Antarctica is closed for the season but Flat Alex will be headed there in the spring!! That will make all 7 continents in a year!

"Hi Jennie,

  I saw this project a while back and really wanted to particpate but my son had just been born. Since then we've taken Alex to the zoo 3 times. The first time the Pandas were not behaving, and the 2nd time my son started to cry so we had to head back just as we reached the pandas (since pandas are picky creatures that need quiet). This Sunday we were rewarded with some photo ops with two of the zoo's pandas, Gao Gao and Yun Zi.

I will send you 5 separate emails since these are fowards from my husband's camera. The first is a photo of us arriving at the zoo, planning how to get to the pandas. We decided to take the Skyfari up to the top, visit the polar bears and loop down to the Pandas. Jennifer"

Here, Reddy and Alex spot Gao Gao. According to the zoo keeper Gao Gao doesn't often face out, in fact once a group of young girls kept yelling to him to turn around and apparently he went inside his pen and wouldn't come out for the rest of the day!

      Alex poses with Yun Zi, who is enjoying one of the 12 types of bamboo that they feed the pandas at the World Famous San Diego Zoo!

The Great Wall of China

Here are two pictures of Flat Alex at the Great Wall of China. He's been traveling with a friend of a friend of a friend. Still have not gotten a name for this lovely person but we send our thanks for taking Flat Alex along and taking such good care of him.

"hi jennie...change of itinerary...flat alex is headed to china!!! hopefully you got the message from your daughter! he will be headed to seattle tomorrow and will fly out on oct. 8th to beijing and will visit the great wall and then will go to xian and will visit the terra cotta warriors...then will head to shanghai for further fun! flat alex will be travelling with my friend donna christensen and will return on october 17th. yea!!!!!!!! hope this is not a problem in not going to florida but china sounded a whole lot more exciting!!!!"

Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Lake Michigan

Hello!

We decided that we wanted Alex to tag along with us to Silver Lake Sand Dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan. This place has tons of sun, tons of sand and tons of fun. Everything that any 14 year old boy would love. Here you can go crazy on dirt bikes, four wheelers and dune buggies. Then you can cool off in the waters of Lake Michigan.

Alex seemed like he had a great time. It was a pleasure having him with us.

I am cropduster on TwoPeas and found out about your project through that site. I think that this is a wonderful, memorable thing that you are doing in Alex' memory. I cannot imagine the pain that you must have went through and are still experiencing.(((HUGS))) You and your family are very inspirational in turning a tragedy into something that I'm sure Alex is thinking is so cool from above. My son is the same age as Alex would be so this was personal for all of us. My son and husband were instrumental in telling me what poses to put Alex in to get the best shot. Maybe some of the pictures could have turned out better. But I don't think Alex really cared. He was too busy checking out the machines and the view. :-)
